He meets and falls in love with Bud's sister, Rose, who helps him escape when he is suspected of being a traitor to the gang. Discovering that Bud killed La Grange to protect a dead sister's honor, he frees Bud at the border, then clears his action with the commanding officer and returns to the woman he loves.
