Synopsis

An adventurer searches for a lost American explorer and finds him on a remote South Sea island with the help of the crew of his yacht. The explorer is being held by island natives, who have him under a powerful voodoo spell known as "obeah." Trying to break the spell, the adventurer attacks the natives during their death ritual. He is forced to escape to his yacht, taking a native girl and the daughter of the now dead explorer with him. Using the explorer's map, the trio begins to look for a sunken chest of gold coins. As they sail away, the voodoo curse of the high priest pursues them. A romantic triangle involving the two girls and the adventurer causes further complications.

Notes

The plot for this film was taken from Film Daily, the only review found for the film. Phillips H. Lord was best known for his portrayal of "Seth Parker" on the radio, and the character name was also the name of his yacht. The character, "Seth Parker," was a fictional New England philosopher. The first film in which Lord appeared as "Parker" was Way Back Home (see below). According to an ad in the 1935 Film Daily Year Book filming took place during the first part of an around-the-world cruise, and took place over an eleven month period and covered "twenty countries, 18,000 miles, and 6,000 people." According to the Film Daily review, natives and the schooner's crew appeared in the film as cast members.
