Synopsis

Murderer Brandon and safecracker Montana Nick are handcuffed together while riding a train under the sheriff's supervision. When Nick's sister enters the compartment and faints, Brandon grabs the sheriff's gun and escapes with Nick, after which they hide in a wagon owned by Jane Langdon while it is being loaded. Jane, whose deeds to the Sneak Creek Range and Lazy T Ranch have been lost by Kansas City lawyer Harrison, is in danger losing her claim to the Lone Star Cattle Co. As Jane cuts rancher Pete Sutton's barbed wire, her horses bolt, and she is saved by Brandon and Nick. Pete and his men ride up, and Brandon and Nick join them, as their manacles have been broken. Brandon, who was with Pete when Duke Deever was killed, hopes to clear himself of the murder charge. Because Jane sees Pete rustling her cattle, and realizes he is working for Lone Star, she is kidnapped. Nick knows too much and is knocked out by Pete, but overhears him planning with Brandon to send Nick across the Mexican border to be killed by Sloane, known as "El Caneo." The sheriff arrives at the Lazy T and forms a posse to search for Jane and the escaped convicts. Pete and El Caneo meet, and Pete gives El Caneo Nick and Jane to dispose of as he sees fit and promises him future payment. Nick escapes El Caneo's henchman during a fight in a river and adopts a Mexican disguise, while Brandon enters the saloon where El Caneo has brought Jane, and after a fight, rescues her. Brandon and Jane go after Pete, as it is revealed that Pete had Nick steal Jane's deeds from Harrison's office, and Jane also sends for the sheriff. While Brandon fights Pete, Nick steals Jane's deeds for her. Dying, Pete reveals to the sheriff that Deever shot first, so Brandon will receive a new trial. Nick renounces crime and heads for the border, while Brandon and Jane ride off together.
