Synopsis

Dr. James Leland, a wealthy and philanthropic young physician who has inherited his wealth from his father, spends most of his time entertaining children in the city hospitals. His secretary and business manager, Hugh Powell (also inherited from his father), is secretly allied with dope-peddler Buck Sanders. Powell is assisted by Ruth Wheeler, a pretty girl in love with him but engaged to Dr. Jim. When Dr. Jim catches Powell stealing drugs, Powell knocks him unconscious and--thinking him dead--dumps him in the river. Though Dr. Jim regains consciousness, he has lost his memory and develops a dual personality: first as "Jimmy," who is cared for by Marion Nord, who helps her doctor father run a clinic on MacDougal Street; then as "Black Flash," a mysterious bandit--loved by Marion--who robs wealthy gamblers for the benefit of Dr. Nord's clinic. Powell bribes Sanders and his men to kidnap Marion, but Jimmy becomes aware of the plot. The police arrive to apprehend the culprits, though not before Jimmy is knocked out. Dr. Jim recovers his memory and returns to his rightful place in society with Marion by his side.

Notes

Most sources give Marcella Daly in the part of Eleanor Wheeler, accomplice, but the title continuity in the copyright files gives Carol Wines in the part, with, however, the character name Ruth Wheeler.
