Synopsis

Lady Marjorie, the daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Donegal, shocks her parents by becoming a nurse. Two of her patients are Dick, a little lame boy, and John Danbury, a member of the House of Commons who has just had an operation on his eyes. John falls desperately in love with Marjorie, but she devotes most of her time to Dick. To test John's love, Marjorie pretends she is the daughter of a fish peddler and invites him to her house. John is undaunted and persists in asking Marjorie to marry him. Finally, Marjorie reveals her real identity to John, who then refuses to marry her because it would ruin his career as a labor representative. When their respective families get together, however, John is made to realize the importance of an alliance and all ends happily.
