Synopsis

Poet Raphael Valentin meets the vampish Russian Countess Fedora, who makes him successful overnight, then rejects him. An antiquarian gives him a piece of magic leather that will grant every wish. The poet becomes rich and famous again, destroys Countess Fedora, and is about to die because he is a "slave of desire" when a girl he once loved but deserted saves him.
