Synopsis

Northwest Canadian trapper Pierre Labelle has been missing for two years while his wife Rose and daughter Angela keep a vigil in a snowbound cabin with their Indian servant Natoosh and her half-breed son Jules. Lieut. Col. Bruce Knight is in love with Rose and implores her to marry him but she refuses until Jules brings in a report that Pierre was killed in an avalanche. Pierre returns on the wedding day, expels Bruce, and abuses Rose, then bargains to sell Angela to landowner Beaudry for valuable land. When Rose protests, Pierre arranges to have Angela taken to Beaudry in a distant cabin. Rose and Jules follow, and Rose kills Beaudry. She is later about to be arrested by Bruce when Jules kills Pierre and is mortally wounded himself. Before dying, Jules assumes the guilt for Beaudry's death. Rose is now free to marry Bruce.
