Synopsis

Rose Rossetti, the orphaned daughter of a New York gangster, and Danny Lewis, also an orphan, are reared by the Kaminskys, an elderly Jewish couple who operate an artificial flower factory on the East Side. The Kaminskys die, telling Rose of her parentage, and leave the shop to Danny and Rose. Danny drifts into the clutches of Willofsky, a Bolshevik agitator, and Emma Goldstein, his coworker, to whom Danny is attracted. While agitating against the war with Germany, Willofsky and Emma are attacked by a crowd; Danny, after assaulting a policeman, prevents Emma from throwing a bomb. Through Galligan, a ward leader, he is exonerated by the police and allowed to enlist, to Rose's joy. After the war, Danny returns and finds that he is in love with Rose.
