Synopsis

In a region near Kimberly, South Africa, Bob Avery, proprietor of the Eldorado Dancehall, goes to the railroad station to meet Eileen O'Moore, a singer known as the Irish Nightingale, who has been promoted in grand style by her agent, "The Kid." For the 19th time Bob proposes marriage to her, but Eileen sadly declines; in the hotel she reminisces over past days in Kildare when she was betrothed to Barry Nunan, who left to seek his fortune in South Africa and never returned. At her concert she meets Barry but is shocked to find that he is married; consequently, she accepts Bob and becomes his wife. Five years later, Barry has returned to America to become a lawyer, and upon the death of Bob, Eileen sells the Eldorado and goes with her daughter to America, where she opens a roadhouse in which Elsie dances. Nunan, who wants to close the place, is enraged when his son, Larry, falls in love with Elsie but is placated by his own happy reunion with Eileen.
