Synopsis

James Lee Stewart, a rookie just returned from the war, vainly tries to sell books for a living until his wealthy aunt dies and leaves him a fortune. A proviso of the will dictates that if any of the servants is fired, he will receive $5,000. Despite their insults, he decides to keep the servants on. He takes his problems to a lawyer, who is, unknown to Jimmy, the father of Alicia, a girl to whom Jimmy is attracted. The father, after settling Jimmy's servant problem, wanting to see the couple get together, makes his daughter believe he has been kidnaped. Jimmy and Alicia get into several adventures, after which all is explained and the lovers are united.
