Synopsis

When Jim Barston is mysteriously shot and killed in Australia, his wife, Helen, lays claim to the estate of Gerald Mortimer Barston in England on grounds that Jim was the missing son and heir. Although unable to prove her husband's birth by legal means, she convinces the trustees and is installed as mistress of the manor. The real heir appears and produces his birth certificate. Though Helen believes him at first to be an imposter, she finally accepts him as the true heir and relinquishes the estate, but he persuades her to stay and marry him.
