Synopsis
Grant Somers, a wealthy clubman and amateur detective, signs on as a waiter in the Red Rooster Cafe in an attempt to track down The Professor, a notorious gang leader. Toad Magee, a stool pigeon, is murdered by Hardy, one of The Professor's gang, and Grant is blamed for the crime. Grant later meets Mary Franklin, a detective who is working as a maid in The Professor's home; she learns of a plot against Grant's life and warns him in time for him to make his escape. When The Professor finds out that Mary is a detective, he orders her death, but Grant arrives in time to rescue her. The police arrest The Professor and his gang, and Mary and Grant seem set on becoming partners for life.
