Synopsis

Linnie, a department store clerk, captures the interest of Preston Winfield, her employer's son. Preston, disheartened by a loveless match that his parents have arranged for him, feels an honest desire to brighten the life of one of his father's clerks. During the absence of his family, he prevails upon Linnie to accept money with which to buy new clothes, and arranges that they spend the following six nights in the way she would wish them. Linnie's dreams come true as they pursue the pleasures of dining, motoring and going to the theater until they are discovered by Linnie's brother on their last evening together in the Winfield house. Linnie returns home in disgrace. Unable to live with her dishonor, Linnie throws herself under Preston's car and dies after languishing in the hospital.

Notes

The working title of this film was The Whim, which is also the title of Marion Orth's story. One pre-release credits Weber, not Orth, with the original story for the film. This was the first film made in Weber's own studio on Santa Monica Blvd. in Hollywood. A pre-release article lists Ethel Weber, Colin Kenny and Therese Young as cast members and omits Ann Schaefer and Helene Rosson from the cast listing. It is unclear whether the first three actors appeared in the released film. Wid's credits Duke Hayward as cameraman, while other sources, including the synopsis in the copyright descriptions, credit Allen Siegler.
