Synopsis
A recently impoverished young girl obtains employment as a secretary with an unhappily married artist. The artist soon falls in love with the girl and showers her with attention, which she reciprocates, believing herself in love as well. When she meets James, however, a successful physician, she finds genuine romance. Accepting the physician's marriage proposal, the girl finally rejects the artist, who drops dead when he hears the news. Knowing of her husband's affair, the artist's widow seeks revenge and procures a job as the physician's housekeeper. Convincing the girl that her new husband is in love with his pretty adopted daughter, the widow causes a jealous row between the young couple. The widow then shows the physician the girl's diary, which chronicles her relationship with the artist. Destroyed by mistrust and doubt, the couple separates, and the girl contemplates suicide. Stopped in time by the inspired entreaties of her maid, the girl decides to reconcile with her husband and pay the price of her past with courage.

Notes
The first reel of this film contains many shots of famous paintings in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. An early Motion Picture News publicity article about the Cosmos Feature Film Corp. lists the film as one of its upcoming productions and credits Catherine Carr with the scenario. One release chart erroneously lists the production company as Triumph.
