Synopsis

Job Armstrong, a self-made millionaire shipowner, believes his own powers are sufficient to promote him to even greater heights, and although he hears the biblical story of Job, he does not recognize the analogy to his own case. Circumstances, initiated by the treachery of his son-in-law, Count Bazaine, who plots to get the shipyards for a foreign concern, cause him to lose successively his son and daughter. Pauline, the French widow of his son, and her small son bring a glimmer of happiness, however, into his life. Then, when his home burns and it appears that fate has taken away Pauline's son, Armstrong comes to realize the value of Divine power and love that meet every human need. Pauline exposes Bazaine as her husband's murderer, Job's business is restored, and he wins back health and happiness.
