Synopsis

The villainous "Red" Adair and his partner Pappineau kidnap a small boy from the home of a wealthy Vancouver judge, but while they are carousing in their cabin, the boy wanders away. Outside the home of trapper Jules Leneau and his wife Jane, the boy falls into a bear trap, and when Jules finds him the next morning, he eagerly carries him to Jane, who is still lamenting the loss of her own baby. Red demands "Little Roughneck's" return, and Jules' refusal leads to a fight so brutal that Red is killed. Learning that the boy was kidnapped, Jules decides to return him to the judge, despite his wife's desperate pleadings. In Vancouver, however, Jules is told that Little Roughneck belonged not to the judge but to his recently deceased housekeeper. Seeing Jules' love for the child, the judge permits Little Roughneck to return to the woods with his new father.
