Synopsis

Widower Dr. Hunter Guthrie, is so absorbed in his work that when the grandmother of his four children begs him to provide the parental guidance they so sorely need, he merely replies that "youth will find a way." At the semester's end, young Peter Guthrie invites Nicholas Kenyon, his charming but unprincipled roommate, to visit the Guthrie home. The two learn that Peter's older brother Graham has secretly married a cabaret dancer named Ita, but when they visit the club to inquire about her character, they are seen by the father of Peter's fiancée, Betty Townsend. Outraged, Mr. Townsend breaks the engagement. Having learned that Ita is unfaithful, Graham nearly commits suicide, but Dr. Guthrie saves him by offering to pay the dancer handsomely if she will agree to a divorce. Meanwhile, Nicholas drugs Peter and then lures the beautiful young Belle Guthrie to his apartment, where her honor is defended at the last moment by Peter and his horrified father. In a drug-induced delirium, Peter attacks his father and then collapses, but Betty's presence finally renews his strength. Dr. Guthrie vows henceforth to devote himself to his children.
