Synopsis
Fleeing the hard, drab life of a sordid mill town, Ann Hardy goes to New York and becomes a hostess in a gambling club run by Ted Wells, where, unknowingly, she comes to play an important part in cheating rich customers at roulette. Ann later discovers that Ted is dishonest and quits her job; Ted quickly finds her and, having fallen in love with the innocent girl, vows to quit gambling if she will marry him. Yvonne D'Orsy, Ted's former mistress, then jealously arranges for Ann to go to the apartment of Silk Oliver, a notorious womanizer; Oliver attacks her, and Ann kills him in self-defense. Tom straightens things out, however, and the two leave the gaudy night life of New York, looking for a fresh start in life.
