Synopsis

Judith Andrews, once a sweet country girl, falls upon hard times in the city and is reduced to soliciting in a dancehall. She meets Stephen Ransome, a young man of good family and excellent character, who knows nothing of her past, and marries him, insisting only that he ask nothing about her former life. Derby Dan Manning, Judith's former pimp, learns of the marriage and blackmails her until Edwin Burke, a phlegmatic, undemonstrative detective, puts him away. Stephen learns of Judith's past but forgives her, his love for her having quickly overcome his initial disappointment.
