Synopsis

Stephen Winslow, the bachelor guardian of vivacious young Sally Sanborn, is devoted to the girl and hopes to marry her. He bails her out of jail following a cabaret raid and takes her home after a ruinous canoeing expedition, where she finally accepts his proposal. When Stephen's attractive but worthless younger brother, Tom, unexpectedly returns home, Stephen finds himself neglected by Sally and is led to believe that Tom has won her love. At a dinner, he startles everyone by announcing the engagement of Sally and Tom and abruptly leaves the table to go to save her securities from a fire at the factory; there, when they are trapped in the flames, their misunderstandings are cleared away. Rescued, they return to the dinner, where Stephen announces their plans to marry.
