Synopsis

Kindly Professor Vanni, a dance instructor separated from his faithless wife, brings up his daughter Alice in New Orleans. When her father dies, Alice contacts her flashy mother Mrs. Martyn, who, with her theatrical agent, Louis Fitch, arrange to get Alice into a dancing act in New York, which proves a success. Four years later, at Monte Carlo, Mrs. Martyn and Fitch scheme to trap a wealthy Italian, Signor Castelli, into a marriage proposal with the innocent Alice and afterwards blackmail him. Alice, however, meets Maxwell, an ex-football star, who falls in love with her. Eventually, Alice realizes the true natures of her mother and Fitch, the blackmailers are exposed, and Alice and Maxwell become engaged.
