Synopsis

Lonesome Bud Kane rides into town, gets drunk, and staggers home only to find an unknown goldenhaired girl sleeping in his bunk. He does not awaken her and discovers the following day that she is Ruth Larrabee, the daughter of the rancher for whom he works. He later saves Ruth's life when her horse bolts, and the two fall in love. The Larrabee ranch is hit by rustlers, and Bud goes after them, accidentally losing his hatband. The band is found by George Wallace, who is both Larrabee's foreman and the leader of the rustlers. Larrabee uses the hatband to substantiate his accusation that Bud is the real cattle thief. Bud is ordered off the property by the elder Larrabee and immediately sets out to bring the rustlers in once and for all. He is captured by Wallace, however, and taken back to the Larrabee ranch, where he is held for the sheriff. Discovering the true identity of the rustlers, Ruth confronts Wallace, who makes a run for it. Bud follows and, besting him in a rough fight, hands Wallace over to the sheriff. Bud is forgiven by Larrabee, who gives his consent for Bud to romance Ruth.
