Synopsis

Jimmy Whitmore, a struggling office worker, is constantly harassed by his wife's incessant reminders that they need a new rug and by the insinuating remarks of Henry Curlew, his employer. Having been found satisfactory by Curlew, however, he is given an important assignment--that of getting a contract with George Dixon, a tough customer. When Jimmy finds that his wife has gone to work to earn extra money, he is forced to engage a prizefighter's wife as a stand-in for the evening; at the arranged dinner he meets Dixon and Curlew's new secretary, who turns out to be Betty, Jimmy's wife. Curlew offers Dixon the use of his secretary to dictate some letters at his hotel and forces Jimmy and his "wife" into a nearby room. Complications ensue as the fighter attempts to retrieve his wife; and Curlew arrests Dixon, who is a crook. Jimmy is rewarded for his astuteness and promoted to junior partner.
