Synopsis
Sam Weinberg, an industrious cigar manufacturer, falls into bad health, and his daughter, Ruth, an assistant to Dr. Burke, uses her dowry to promote his leisure, pretending that it is a legacy from her Uncle Max. Sam embarks on an orgy of spending and betting on golf games and horse races. Then Max unexpectedly arrives from Australia, and Morris, who has been promised to Ruth, retrieves his engagement ring. Realizing he has spent the dowry money, Sam regrets having bet a large sum on a racehorse. The horse refuses to budge until the jockey speaks to her in Yiddish; she then wins the prize money for Sam. Morris tries to repair the engagement, but Ruth is happily united with the Irish doctor.
