Synopsis

Isaac Abrahams, a Jewish pawnbroker and engraver in New York's East Side, patents a new time lock, but he needs capital to begin production. When Jack Wayne, an unscrupulous broker, learns about the lock, he forms a partnership with an underworld gang who want Isaac to finish a plate for the production of counterfeit one-hundred-dollar bills. Isaac's daughter Helen, who wants to become an actress, is persuaded by Wayne's cohort, Madge, to leave home. After Helen is kidnapped, Isaac agrees to finish the plate and to hand over the patent. When he demands to see Helen before completing the job, the two are reunited briefly. As the gang drunkenly celebrates, Isaac scratches the plate, thus making it useless. Although Wayne wants to kill Helen in revenge, one of the gang members objects, so she is placed into a time-locked vault. After Secret Service men and Helen's lover, Nathan Stattler, who is also Jewish, capture the crooks, Isaac opens the vault in time to save Helen from suffocating. The uncle of Isaac's two adopted children then finances the lock, and they both become millionaires. Helen and Nathan are married by a rabbi.
