Synopsis

When the Reverend Thomas Hayden, a New England minister, moves to a new town, he falls in love with Betty, the daughter of Major Ainslee, the owner of a thoroughbred race horse named Miss Minta. The reverend thinks that horse racing is against God's wishes and he lobbies the state legislature so that it bans the sport. Major Ainslee suffers a financial reversal and the only way for him to recoup his losses is through winning horse racing prize money. A friend loans Major Ainslee the money to race Miss Minta in another state and his horse wins the race. Because of their mutual affection for Betty, Major Ainslee and Reverend Hayden finally reconcile their philosophical differences.
