Synopsis

Just before an important primary, Senator Jim Walton and Tom Pierce, friends since boyhood, become engaged in a bitter rivalry that threatens to disrupt their party. During a political meeting, a speech by Walton so aggravates Pierce that the two men appear likely to come to blows. A musician then sings "That Old Gang of Mine," and, as memories come flooding back of a shared childhood on the East Side, Tom and Jim put aside all animosity. They later return to their old neighborhood and recall for each other the joys and sorrows of a Manhattan childhood. Their friendship is renewed, and they decide to join forces and present a united front to the opposition party.
