Synopsis
While on vacation, Alibi Terhune, a member of the Range Busters, rescues Bret Travis, who was shot while driving his buckboard and left for dead. Bret has inherited a share of his uncle Wilson's Lazy W ranch, and Alibi soon learns that lawyer Roger Denby, who is handling the estate, has introduced an impostor to Wilson's daughter Judy as Bret. Alibi interests his partners, Crash Corrigan and Dusty King, in Bret's dilemma, and they agree to investigate the situation while Bret recuperates. Dusty poses as a longtime friend of Judy's father while Crash establishes himself in town as a tough cowboy for hire. Denby hires Crash to be the Lazy W's new foreman, and he and Dusty become rivals for Judy's affection. Crash's investigation reveals that Wilson had struck oil on the southern section of his land, and Crash surmises that Denby must be after the ranch for the oil. Denby brings rancher Bill Ames to the Lazy W, claiming he wants to rent the south section of the ranch for his cattle. However, Ames recognizes the Range Busters and puts Denby on the alert. Dusty and Bret are taken hostage by Denby's gang while Crash confronts Denby and learns that he was responsible for Wilson's death and the attack on Bret. The Range Busters capture the outlaws and Bret's inheritance is restored to him.
