Brief Synopsis

Synopsis
When John Durbeyfield learns that he is a descendant of the rich D'Urbervilles, he sends his daughter Tess to Alec, who employs her as a maid. Betrayed by him, she leaves, and tragedy stalks her life. Tess loses her baby, but she finds happiness with Angel, though he leaves her upon learning her history. To free herself from the influence of Alec, she is forced to kill him and is executed for the crime.
