Synopsis
Cowboy Tom Lansing and his cohort, Banty, ride to Cheyenne, where Tom's father has been unjustly jailed for killing an old man named Halliday. Apprised by his father that the real murderer is Butcher Wells, Tom pledges to capture the killer, no matter how great the risk. At the entrance to the ghost town where Butcher is reputedly hiding with a gang of outlaws, Tom pretends to kill Banty, who is disguised as a deputy sheriff, and is allowed to pass by the guards. Just then, Bess, a young woman who is being held prisoner in the town, is caught trying to escape and is roughly treated by gang member Nevada and two guards. Tom intervenes on Bess's behalf and routs the offending trio, thereby impressing Raymer, the gang's boss. After Raymer accepts Tom as a recruit, Bess, who has been forced to return to the town, tells him that she became lost in the desert while trying to locate her uncle's ranch and was picked up by the gang. Bess's conversation with the sympathetic, admiring Tom is overheard by Nevada, who reports the exchange to Raymer. Raymer, who has vowed to marry his captive, fumes with jealousy but accepts Tom's challenge to fight one-on-one for possession of her. After an extended, brutal battle, Tom bests Raymer and is told that, according to gang law, he must marry Bess. An imprisoned parson then performs the marriage ceremony, after which Tom and the gang leave to hold up a shipment of gold. While waiting for the wagon to pass, Tom secretly reunites with Banty and, by a clever trick, thwarts the hold-up attempt while throwing suspicion on Nevada. Tom sends Banty off and returns to the ghost town, where he learns that Bess has been imprisoned in the parson's cabin by Raymer and Nevada. At the cabin, Tom beats and locks up one of Raymer's men, who is then identified by the parson as the man who saw Butcher Wells, in reality Raymer, kill Halliday. To signal the posse, which has been alerted by Banty, Tom sends his saddleless horse out of town. Outside of town, Banty is caught by the outlaws and, with Tom, is tried for "treason" in a kangaroo court. After Banty is found guilty and is sentenced to die, Tom finally reveals his true mission and holds the outlaws at gunpoint. With help from the posse, Tom routs the gang and, after capturing Raymer, clears his father's name.

No contemporary reviews were located for this film. The 1935 Film Daily Year Book includes a listing for the picture in its "1934 releases" section, but no Film Daily review is cited. On November 7, 1934, the picture was approved by the New York State Censor Board. Charles E. Roberts, not Rose Gordon, is credited with the film story by some modern sources. Additional modern source cast members include Budd Buster (Townsman), Jack Kirk (Cowboy) and Jimmy Aubrey, Jack Cross and Herman Hack (Henchmen). In addition, modern sources credit Harry S.
