Synopsis

Peter Whitby, a lowly draftsman in the service of a distinguished architectural firm, is sent to the railway station to meet the president's niece and makes a very favorable impression on Rose. At Rose's request, Peter is sent shopping with her. He takes her to a notorious roadhouse to which her uncle has forbidden her to go; and discovering Zimmerman (her uncle) there with Parmalee, a wealthy contractor, they leave, arousing the suspicions of the house detective. Unable to find a cab, Peter buys one, not knowing it is the notorious "white taxi" in which a robbery and murder have been committed. Zimmerman threatens to send Rose home and discharges Peter, who drives his taxi to meet her. En route to the justice of the peace, they are chased by the police, Zimmerman, and Parmalee; they manage, however, to complete the marriage ceremony in time, and the real crooks are arrested.
