Synopsis
Noted stage comedian Pat O'Brien prematurely celebrates his son's graduation from college and is fired from his act for being intoxicated; later, at a café where father and son continue their celebration, Jimmy sees Mariam Finklebaum, whom he has met at a school prom. Abie (her father) and Pat become friends and enter into a business arrangement to import a mysterious product from the Bahamas, and they are arrested on a rum-running charge after Berkowitz, Mariam's jealous suitor, tips off prohibition officers. Jimmy meets their ship in a hydroplane and is also arrested. They are all released when it is learned that they are importing molasses; and Mariam's plans to marry Berkowitz are canceled when it is learned that he is a leading Florida bootlegger. All ends happily with Jimmy engaged to Mariam.
