Synopsis
While in Algiers, American explorer Gordon Roberts falls in love with Hafsa, the daughter of the wealthy Sidi Malik. Before the romance can develop, however, slave traders capture Gordon and make plans to sell him as a prize catch. Hafsa manages to rescue him, but then she herself is sold to an old sheik who wants to marry her. This time, Gordon rescues Hafsa, but again the romance is cut short when Malik insists on taking his daughter home with him. Then, however, Lella, the woman who sold Hafsa, recognizes Malik as the husband she left years before. Lella realizes that she has been treating her own daughter as an object of commerce, and so, to make up for it, she convinces Malik to consent to a marriage between Hafsa and Gordon.
