Synopsis

After an affair with Leslie Palliser, her best friend's husband, Clorinda Gildersleeve, overcome with remorse, goes to Europe to escape her old associations. There Clorinda meets Malcolm Grant, who falls in love with her. Unwilling to accept the love of a good man, Clorinda returns to America where, heavily veiled, she confides in the Rev. Arthur Bainbridge. Grant follows and after he professes his love, Clorinda informs him of her past and he refuses to marry her. Clorinda then becomes involved in settlement work, and soon Bainbridge falls in love with her and proposes. She consents, but before the marriage can take place, Grant returns and begs forgiveness. It is granted and Clorinda returns to the worldly man, preferring him over the minister. They are married and leave for hospital duty in France.
