Synopsis
When her father leaves her with twin sisters to raise, stenographer Jane Neill searches for a well-paying position so she can retrieve the twins from their temporary residence at an orphanage, and lands a job with irritable millionaire playwright David Lyman, who is having difficulty with his latest work. After refusing the marriage proposal of hard-working Micky Donovan, who operates a lunch wagon, Jane falls in love with Lyman's nephew Monty, who is pursued by fortune-hunting Nita Arliss. When Monty's friends at his party destroy Lyman's model stage, which he used for his writing, Lyman angrily disinherits Monty and dies of a heart attack, having secretly willed his fortune to Jane. Jane encourages Monty to live modestly and get a job, but when she realizes that Nita still holds some interest for him, Jane destroys the will so that Monty will receive his father's fortune, and she returns to the faithful Micky.

Notes
Several contemporary reviews and a Paramount press book list Paul Perry as cinematographer, but Paramount studio records credit Henry Kotani. Studio records also diverge from reviews in giving the name of Niles Welch's character as "Monty Howard," not "Monty Lyman."
