Synopsis

President Abraham Lincoln calls his cabinet into session in order to underline the fact that the fate of the Union depends on finding a new source of finance. He then receives word that a western mineowner will supply the Union with gold, and Lincoln sends a messenger for it. Simultaneously, General Lee sends a Confederate spy to the West to forestall the Union messenger. Eluding death at the hands of firing squads and Indians, the Confederate spy finally locates the stagecoach that is bringing back the Union gold. The spy is caught, and, when he is about to be hanged, the daughters of the mineowner, who have both fallen in love with him, save his life. The war ends, and the spy sets off with both the young girls for Salt Lake City, where he prepares to settle down in bigamy blessed by the Latter-day Saints.
