Synopsis

Joe's sweetheart, his mother, comes to the United States from Italy expecting her son to be a wealthy American. Finding instead that he is a poor iceman, Mama Mia takes a position as a laundress for district attorney Kelland. As a prank, the Kelland's baby hides a valuable pin in a laundry basket and Mama Mia is arrested for theft. Under the district attorney's prosecution, Mama Mia is sent to prison, incurring Joe's wrath. Kelland's political enemies seize upon Joe's anger and involve him in a plot to kill the D. A. Joe is to substitute Kelland's golf ball with one filled with nitroglycerine. As Kelland is about to strike the ball, Joe watches in horror as the D. A.'s wife and daughter walk into range of the explosive. Rushing onto the course, Joe throws himself in front of the ball, saving Kelland. Mrs. Kelland then confesses her baby's part in the theft, Mama Mia is freed, and the family is happily reunited.
