Synopsis

Only a massive blood transfusion can save Rhoda Cortlandt after she has been stabbed. Her fiancé, Webster Stuyvesant, wants to be the donor, but Theodore, Rhoda's father, who has never approved of Webster, refuses to allow it. Instead, he offers $500 to anyone but Webster who will give blood. Burton Woodrow, who has always loved Rhoda and who has just gotten out of jail after stealing $250 from Theodore in order to pay his mother's medical bills, decides to accept the offer. After the transfusion, Rhoda recovers but starts having visions of Burton, and she realizes that having his blood in her veins has made her love him. Rhoda breaks her engagement to Webster, and then she and Burton decide to get married. Once again, Theodore disapproves, but a magnanimous Webster convinces the old man to relent and to accept Burton as a son-in-law.
