Synopsis

Goro Mariyama, who uses the profits from his high-class honestly-run gambling house to help the poor, is shot by Blair Whitcomb, who earlier had accused Goro of cheating and then lost $10,000 to him over a cut of cards. Goro's lung is pierced and it is only through the efforts of nurse Gloria Manning, Blair's fiancée, that Goro pulls through. Goro tells Gloria that he loves her and is shocked to hear of her engagement. Demanding revenge, Goro forces Blair to come to his house to make good on his bounced $10,000 check. When Blair does this, Goro sends for the police. Gloria comes and pleads for Blair telling Goro that she loves Blair even though she knows he attempted murder and that she can never love Goro because of their difference in race. Goro lets Blair escape saying he is paying his debt to Gloria, whom he loves, for saving his life.
