Synopsis

Alona is the daughter of John Kemp, a wealthy aristocrat, and the Indian wife whom he married after renouncing his own society, following an unfortunate love affair. When his daughter reaches adulthood, Kemp realizes that he must provide for her future, and so sends Alona to a fashionable Eastern boarding school where she is snubbed by the other girls. She returns home to her own people after the death of her father, and there meets prospector Frank Colvin, her old sweetheart, who asks her to marry him. Alona, suspicious after her experiences back East, returns to the city and decides to test Frank by purchasing his mine through an agent. Frank, now wealthy, finds Alona again and, as he is about to offer his love, is shocked to discover that the poor Indian maid has been transformed into an heiress. Alona accepts his proposal, and they embark upon a happy life together.
