Synopsis

Mary Ellen, a soda jerk in a sleepy Southern town, dreams of making it big in the city. One day, she hops a train headed for New York where she lands a job in a shady cabaret run by Will the Weasel. Will schemes to relieve greenhorn Bob Fairacres of his bankroll and enlists Mary Ellen in his plan by framing her for a robbery and then threatening to jail her unless she cooperates. However, Mary Ellen falls in love with Bob and at the last minute alerts him to the plan. After the police arrive to arrest Will and his cohorts, Mary Ellen becomes Bob's bride, and the happy couple returns to her home town.
