Synopsis

Unused to the luxury her husband is able to provide, Dorothy Cluer indulges in great extravagance, which is permitted by Robert yet results in considerable discord between the couple. The marriage disintegrates, and Dorothy is about to run off with a disreputable English lord when she shoots a boy (Timmy), mistaking him for a burglar. Grief-stricken, Dorothy suddenly realizes the error of her ways, takes care of Timmy, and adopts both him and a little girl in whom Robert has been interested. Thus the Cluers are reconciled, with the children acting as a firm bond between them.
