Synopsis

Lady Kitty Bristol leaves a French convent school after reading Freedom, a radical work by Geoffrey Cliffe. In London she meets both Cliffe and William Ashe, Secretary of Home Affairs, and she marries Ashe. Kitty makes numerous sketches, which amuse her husband, of British Cabinet members, and at Cliffe's advice when she is snubbed by Lady Parham she publishes them. She then creates a scandal by appearing seminude at a charity entertainment. Ashe is forced to resign, and upon discovering his wife gone he chastizes Cliffe for his influence. Later he finds her at the convent, where they are reconciled.
