Synopsis

Harry, Tony and Tom escape prison and meet in the town of Trade Rat where Harry falls in love with Ruby Merril. After robbing the local bank, the three men ride into the desert where they come upon a woman and her newborn son. The mother, who is dying, begs the three to be the baby's godparents. Tony and Tom perish en route, but Harry trudges on until he reaches the nearest town where he finds Ruby and the sheriff waiting for him. When the sheriff discovers that the dying woman was his sister, he obtains a pardon from the governor, thus allowing Harry, Ruby and the baby to take up a peaceful life together.

Notes

For information on the literary source and on remakes, see listing below for The Three Godfathers. The copyright records and some modern sources disagree with contemporary reviews in giving the film's length as five, not six, reels. Modern sources also credit P. A. Powers as the film's producer, state that David Kirby played "Bruiser" Kelly, the prison guard, and give the full name of J. Farrel MacDonald's character as Tom "Placer" McGraw.
