Synopsis

Orlando Winthrop, the studious and slightly effeminate son of a wealthy Bostonian, distresses his father by pursuing an interest in insects. Inspired by a book advising one to "get the drop on the other fellow," Orlando goes to the family Wyoming sheep ranch to investigate rumors concerning Cogney, the foreman. Incongruously dressed and carrying golf clubs, Orlando is paraded through the town by the ranch cowboys, but to their chagrin, he succeeds in bluffing them in poker, out-drinking them and riding a bucking bronco. On a bear hunt, after the cowboys attempt to scare Orlando with a stuffed bear, he nonchalantly emerges from the woods followed by a live bear, whom they do not know is trained. After Orlando frustrates Cogney's plan to kill some of the sheep, and beats him in a fight, Orlando's father and fiancée arrive, but when she sees Orlando chew tobacco, she leaves disgusted, to Orlando's delight, as he and the town's schoolteacher have fallen in love.
