Synopsis

Worried that Octavia, his granddaughter, will marry a spineless city fop, Ezra Whitney, a San Francisco mining magnate, takes her to Alaska to find a proper husband. In the wilds of Alaska, Octavia meets "Chuck" Hemingway, a prosperous Ivy Leaguer posing as a Western roughneck. Believing that he is too lowly for her, Octavia firmly rejects Chuck's advances, but he refuses to be spurned and kidnaps her. Although he leaves her untouched, Octavia, abandoned by Ezra and forced into marriage, suffers a breakdown in her husband's cabin. After six months, she recovers, throws herself into housekeeping and while relishing her new work, maintains her coldness towards Chuck. His obvious attraction for Kitty Malloy, the queen of the Arctic Cabaret, however, arouses Octavia's jealousy, and finally convinces her of her love. Contented at last, Octavia and Chuck return to the city and reunite with Ezra.
