Synopsis

Although she has been warned by the police chief to stop handing out literature on birth control, the wife of Dr. Broome remains committed to the cause. Visited by her former nursemaid Sarah, who is now overburdened by a growing family and a limited income, Mrs. Broome provides her with information on birth control. The spectacle of a consumptive woman suffering under the burden of too many pregnancies compels Mrs. Broome to address a public gathering on birth control. The police raid the meeting and arrest both Mrs. Broome and Sarah for spreading propaganda in violation of state laws. After serving a short sentence, they are finally pardoned by the governor and hopefully await the enactment of new legislation permitting the dissemination of birth control information.
