Synopsis

Frederick Osborn, a self-made man who suddenly becomes rich, finds that his wife is exclusively concerned with travel and "fast company," and he indulges her while pursuing his business activities. His daughter, Lucy, falls in love with Arthur Lynn, a wealthy neighbor's son, while Mrs. Osborn becomes involved with blackmailers Jack and Cordelia Wilson. Fearing his wife's social reputation will endanger Lucy's future, Frederick calls her home, but en route she is induced to bribe a bogus prohibition officer in league with Wilson. The Wilsons are dismissed, owing to Cordelia's past affair with Lynn, then attempt to rob Mrs. Osborn. Osborn arrives in time to thrash Wilson; Cordelia confesses that Lucy's innocence has touched her and refuses Osborn's offer of money.
