Synopsis

Grand Duchess Marie Louise of Bulgravia longs for freedom from the duties and dignity of her rank, while Colonel Moro, the head of the Guards, plots with the revolutionaries against her. One day, after cajoling the old grenadier who guards the palace into letting her leave, Marie Louise meets a company of American soldiers and is attracted to Sergeant Dick Ellis. Accepting his invitation to a dance later that night, she is the belle of the ball. Soon after, Dick returns to America and the revolution takes place. Marie is dethroned and escapes to New York with the faithful grenadier. Colonel Moro and his aides follow, intent upon recovering the valuable crown in Marie's possession. Dick also locates Marie in New York, and when they return to her apartment, a scuffle ensues between the soldier and the waiting revolutionaries with Dick winning both the battle and Marie's love.
