Synopsis

Thomas Blaisdell, alias Western Evans, conceals his life as leader of a group of refined crooks from his daughter, Florence. Clayton Taggart, a young lawyer, falls in love with Florence while investigating a jewel robbery that he suspects Evans and his gang committed. Eventually greed overcomes the thieves, and Blaisdell shoots and kills "The Duke," one of his associates. Finding it necessary to flee the country, Blaisdell enlists to fight in France. Months later he meets Taggart in the trenches, and he intends to kill him until Taggart, badly wounded, breathes Florence's name. After the war Taggart and Florence marry, while Blaisdell, thought dead, becomes a drifter. One night he appears at his daughter's house, stating that he has news concerning her father. Florence does not recognize her father, who dies from the emotional strain, although a smile of recognition passes between Taggart and Blaisdell.
